Passionate about film, Marine Delterme meets Jean-Luc Godard who, along with Dominique Isserman, encourages her to come to terms with her profound wish to become an actor. She will shoot in a mid-length movie of his, embodying « modern beauty ». She returns to New York to study at the Actor’s Studio under Susan Batson, auditions for a Spike Lee movie, and acts in a TV series, « The Hitchiker. » Back in Paris, she decides to focus exclusively on film. She is immediately cast in a cult film: « Les Nuits Fauves » by Cyril Collart. She then is cast in a movie starring Sophie Marceau and Vincent Perez : « Fanfan » by Alexandre Jardin. That same year she gets to work with a legend in French film: Gérard Oury in « La Soif de l’or ». She goes from one experience to the next with movies that run the gamut from « L’année Juliette » (starring Fabrice Luchini) to « Ainsi soient-elles » de Liza Azuelos (starring Vincent Cassel).
She alternates between independent films (« films d’auteur » like « Elle » by Valéria Sarmiento, « Novembre » or « Consentement Mutuel ») and much more commercial films (like « Le Déménagement » starring Dany Boon and Emmanuelle Devos or « Mickael Kael » starring the Canal Plus team and Benoît Délépine).
She tends to favor experiences with filmmakers that leave a lasting imprint on actors, like Philippe Harel (« Les Randonneurs »), Cédric Klapish (« Chacun cherche son chat ») and Raoul Ruiz (« Le Temps retrouvé »)
Roland Joffé gives her a role in English in « Vatel » (which opened the Cannes Festival in 2001) starring Gérard Depardieu and Uma Thurman. That same year, she meets a filmmaker unlike any other in French cinema: Manuel Poirier. From that collaboration will emerge a poignant movie : « Te Quiero », adapted from Modiano’s novel « Dimanche d’Août ».
Following his enormous success with « L’Affaire Dominici » (starring Michel Serraut) Pierre Boutron convinces her to play the role of Alice Nevers for TF1. Over the course of her experience she will shoot with such actors as Michel Aumont, Marisa Berenson, Manuel Blanc, Samuel Labarthe… At each broadcast her audience reaches more than 8 million viewers. She manages to do what she set out to do : become well-known while still remaining inaccessible.
She then meets Florian Zeller who writes for her a part in his play, « Le Manège », produced at the théâtre Montparnasse and also starring Nicolas Vaude. It is an opportunity for her to act in a play for the second time in her career, seven year after having been directed by Jacques Weber in a Michael Cohen play at TDN.
She returns to film with « Le Conseil d’Egypte » by Emidio Grecco, shot in Sicily, soon followed by a dramatic comedy, « Seconde Chance », starring Sami Nacéri, before meeting another master of theater : Francis Huster. He offers her in 2005 her greatest acting challenge yet, the role of a femme fatale in a film noir, worthy of a hitchckock heroine: « Le Vrai coupable », adapted from Patricia Mc Donald’s novel, also starring Jean-Pierre Cassel.
